Feral Family unveil a fiery new single in ‘Spice King’. It’s a thunderous, cinematic cut that on the surface feels like it has more behind it than you might first realise. That’s because its dark, almost apocalyptic sound is inspired by Frank Herbert’s science fiction epic, Dune. The mysterious, lilting vocal line combines with that pulsing bass and the twisting and turning guitar wails to reflect the apocalyptic story that inspired their work. “It’s a story of powerhunger — how a group can take an innocent life and mould it into an obedient being through deviancy, manipulation and by hooking someone up with a potent substance,” they explain.
